BTEC National Level 3 IT
Course Overview
This course helps students develop high-level IT application skills and learn how IT is applied in business. It is designed for students who are interested in the applied (rather than technical) side of computing and IT systems.
What Will I Study?
The course covers the following key units:
- Creating Systems to Manage Information: 25% of the overall grade, assessed via a 10-hour practical database exam over 5 daysli>
- Using Social Media in Business: 25% of the overall grade, coursework-based written assignments.
- Information Technology Systems: 25% of the overall grade, assessed via a 2-hour written exam.
- Data Modelling: 25% of the overall grade, coursework-based written and practical assignments developing spreadsheets.
How Will I Be Assessed?
The assessment includes a combination of written exams, coursework, and practical assignments. The practical exam for “Creating Systems to Manage Information” is a 10-hour test over five days.
Entry Requirements
A grade 4 in GCSE Maths is required, and a pass in a Level 2 IT course is a significant advantage. IT capability is essential for this course.
