Course Overview

Course Units

  • Anatomy & Physiology: Explore how the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems function, as well as the fundamentals of energy systems (Written exam, 33% of the final grade)
  • Fitness, Training and Programming for Health, Sport, and Well-being: Explore client screening, lifestyle assessment, fitness training methods, and fitness programming. (Controlled assessment, 33% of the final grade)
  • Professional Development in the Sports Industry: Explore the knowledge and skills required for different career pathways in the sports industry. (Internally assessed, assignments)

    Assessment

    The course uses a combination of assessment styles to give students confidence in applying their knowledge. These include practical and written assessments, controlled tasks, and written exams. The assessments will include both externally marked exams and internally assessed assignments.

    Entry Requirements

    A grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths and/or English, with a minimum of grade 4s in GCSE Science. A grade 4 or higher in GCSE PE or a Merit higher in BTEC Level 2 Sport is recommended. Enthusiasm for sport and regular involvement in physical activity are essential.
