Congratulations to our year 13 class of 2024. The students have navigated their way through some significant challenges throughout the last seven years of their education. We are very proud of the maturity and resilience they have demonstrated during their time with us at John Henry Newman Catholic College and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
While we as a sixth form celebrate our third year in a row of record results with 74% of results at grade A*-C or equivalent, there are some of our students deserving of special recognition for their outstanding achievements;
- Poppy O achieved grades A*, A*, A, in Philosophy & Ethics, English Literature and Maths A level, and grade A in the Extended Project Qualification. She has secured a place to read English at the University of Cambridge.
- Maja M achieved grades A, A, A, A in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths A level and has secured a place to read Medicine at the University of Birmingham.
- Sebastian F achieved grades A, A, A, A in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths A level and has secured a place to read Medicine at the University of Nottingham.
- Sophie O achieved grades A, A, A in Philosophy & Ethics, English Literature and Drama A level and has secured a place to read Primary and Early Years Education with QTS at the Haybridge Alliance Teacher Training School.
- Matthew D achieved grades A*, A*, B, in Philosophy & Ethics, Maths and English Literature A level, and has secured a place to read Maths & Music (joint honours degree) at the University of Edinburgh.
- Brodie C-S achieved grades A, A, B in Maths, Physics and Chemistry A Level and grade C in the Extended Project Qualification. He has secured a place to read Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Birmingham.
- Anna B achieved grades Distinction*, Distinction *, A, in Vocational Business, Applied Psychology and Drama A Level and has secured a place to read Acting at Central Film School, London.
Headline Performance Measures
Students achieved a 97% pass rate in line with national average of 97% for 2024, with 39% of A level grades or equivalent A* to B and 74% between A* and C with many securing places on university courses and prestigious apprenticeships.
